As always I loved the Video Blog. Now to the movie,I REFUSE to see this for many of the reasons that you stated but also because I’ve just had enough of sequels.
When I saw the trailer and read about how motherhood was being handled I kind of threw up in my mouth. I don’t need a man (Michael Patrick King) telling me how hard motherhood is….especially since these characters are not raising their kids. MISS ME with that.
Carrie’s blabbering on about losing the spark because he wants to watch old movies and SPEND REAL TIME with her makes me think they are trying to recapture her youth instead of showing her as a woman growing. I mean for the love of Louboutin you chased a man that cheated, ignored, married someone else and then left you at the alter only to eventually marry you. You’d better be glad he wants to stay home and watch movies.
ugh I can go on but I won’t, I’ve read enough reviews to hate the franchise that SATC has become. NYC mourns the originality.
This review… *sigh* Will you marry me??? This was just all kinds of awesome… I promise that OUR gay wedding won’t be cheesy at all. I’ll even wear stilettos throughout the entire night!!
Hear, hear and more hear, hear. I went to see it on Friday night and I will be honest that unlike the first film where I had very high expectations which were not met, I had very low ones for this film. Guess what? They were not met either. Aside from the dissing of Muslim culture (not sure why women like Carrie et all would think it is acceptable to go to another country and pay no respect to their customs. I am assuming that these are well educated and well read women) the big slap in the face was the lack of storyline and the hideous consumption in S&TC2; as if they thought that we women are so shallow that all we needed was a lot of fashion and a bit of banter and we would be happy. WRONG!! Very wrong!! I have no idea what Michael Patrick King was thinking but 15 minutes into the film and I wanted to slap Carrie et all. That man should be banned from making films; where was the wonderful writing that we loved in the S&TC TV series? I tell you what it left with women like Cindy Chupuck, Liz Tuccillo and Jenny Hicks who were obviously the main brains behind the success of S&TC.
*snickers* “It reached new heights of horrendous …” “I’m gonna need you to light a candle, say a prayer and ask yourself some questions.”
LMAO!!!
I reckon this movie shows an evolution to dementia. That is the only thing that I can come up with. I haven’t heard anything good about this movie and I absolutely refuse to see it. Once I heard those guys were marrying each other, I tapped out of seeing that movie anyway.
Now you’re telling me that Big gave her a black diamond for kissing another man, Charlotte’s constantly victimized ass is being once again being the victim, I’m so mad at the direction Miranda’s character took and I’m not surprised about Samantha. The only thing that chick hasn’t had in her crock is a sweet potato pie and now she has. She can die now.
I gotta say though, my favorite quote from this is “… four dizzy bitch friends from a carry on film …” That’s about as accurate as you can get for a description of this movie franchise. They bastardized the series and I wish cotton sweatsuits and holy socks on all of their wardrobes for all of eternity.
P.S. These video blogs are why I will never quit you. Anything short of putting on a Nazi uniform and pledging allegiance to Hitler, I can and will overlook. *hugs*
#ugh, make that “crotch.” The only thing she hasn’t had in her crotch is a sweet potato pie.
LMAO! That was spot on.
Sex And The City does not work on the big screen. But unfortunately this won’t stop them from making a SATC 3
This is genuis Mizzer! Haven’t seen the movie yet but loathed the first. Too many funny moments in this blog-the whole thing had me cracking up. I’d love a giant black diamond to remind me I’m married please. Will leave a note for Peter!
“Full time help, finding motherhood hard” and you rustling up sympathy had me on the floor! What happened to Michael Patrick King’s screenwriting abilities? He wrote the tv finale-feature screenwriting clearly not his forte. They’ve basically all cashed in and sold out. Oh so sad.
Totally spot on analysis of the film!
The movie has a lot of problems, but it was still fun to watch. I actually felt for Charlotte, cause Lord knows Olivia has driven me to tears on quite a few occasions. The gay wedding though..that was way too over the top.
I’ve watched this video twice now and I may have to watch it again because I’m laughing so hard I know I’ve missed a few important points.
S&TC has pretty much been on a downward trajectory since that disaster of a series finale which was, in my opinion, incredibly insulting. I really wish Kim Cattral had stuck to her guns by refusing to appear in the first film because she believed there was no story left to tell. Ah, but I suppose even she couldn’t resist the lure of that huge paycheque.
The only point I disagree with you on is that the series was about four well-rounded characters: Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda were great but Carrie was always self-deluded and up her own ass.
Hilarious “light a candle, say a prayer and ask yourself some questions” LOL!
You are funny!
I only saw an episode of Sex and the city and it was enough. That women can see that I might understand, but I can not simply understand why any man (straight or gay) could see that…
I saw this movie on Monday and I’m still trying to make sense of it. The funny parts weren’t funny, the plot was ridiculous, the clothes were FUGLY and they looked like clowns in all that make-up. Bad, bad, bad.

Wait – Anthony and Stanford get married?? They HATE each other! When did they even start dating??????
I absolutely love Sex & the City – the TV series! Especially the earlier years when the fashion was naff, the humour was clever, the lines were witty and the characters were likeable. (Carrie always pissed me off, but that’s another story. I’m a Miranda gal).
The last movie was light-hearted fun but the movie was so unneccesary, so why the sequel? Why? Why take a perfectly good horse, kill it, and then flog it relentlessly?
Absolutely… Fabulous!
I very much liked reading your website. Great content. Please continue posting such excellent content. Thanks.
This post is real usefull!
