Team Bangs Take on Nike Training App
Last week, myself and some members of Team Bangs on the Run were invited to the launch of the new Nike Training Club App. Now that Team Bangs are all super fitness geeks, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to test out the app that let’s you work out whenever and wherever you want.
Some of the Nike PR and Marketing team gave us the skinny on why the app was created and how it works. It’s all about getting more women involved in sport and what with my Team Bangs on the Run mission, that’s something I’ve come to be all about! iTouch handsets were handed around the crowd so we could see how the app works.
What I really like about the app is that you can tailor your workout to be exactly what you want it to be. Set an area you want to work on or do an all over workout – it’s up to you. Whether you just have 15 minutes to spare or want a 45 minute killer session, you can pretty much tailor it to your exact needs. There are videos to demonstrate each exercise, a Nike trainer talks you through it, each exercise is timed and your progress is all recorded. It really is like having your own personal trainer in your pocket.
I thought that’s all the evening would involve, but apparently, Nike had other plans. We all moved into another room where we’d do a little workout. Cool, I thought, a little vanity workout for the cameras. Umm, how wrong was I? Ten minutes into this thing, when they had us doing burpees and I wanted to die, I wondered what the hell I’d got myself into. Two trainers were up on the stage, going through the exercises like it was just a stroll in the park, while even the fittest in the crowd (which included two Nike athletes) huffed and puffed and got a good sweat going. A DJ pumped out some banging tunes and for reasons still unclear to me, was allowed to just spin records and somehow avoid the thigh burning squats we had to do – the jammy bastard!
Anyhoo, it was great fun and a good demonstration of the types of exercises included on the app. I’ll definitely be using it for some of the great ab workouts it has on there, which I think are my favourite so far.
The app is free and available to download now. Give it a go!
