Team Bangs & The Paris Half Marathon

We finally did it! Yesterday, me and my Team Bangs on the Run girls ran the Paris Half Marathon. We had a great weekend there and it was fantastic to finally meet some of the girls after all these months of training and only communicating electronically.

If you’ve never done something like this, it’s difficult to put into words the magnitude of the day itself, combined with the build up and the physical task itself, but it is nothing short of amazing.

Above is a video of our weekend. It was difficult to get everyone together at the same time so not all the team feature in the video unfortunately, but hopefully it gives you a sense of how it all went.

Today, my joints ache, I have a giant blister on my toe, I’m hobbling a little, but my heart is full. I’m so incredibly proud of all my Team Bangs girls. We’ve been on such a journey together and I’m proud to now call them all my friends.

March 7th, 2011 at 5:28 pm My sister is currently staying in a refuge. She left her abusive partner along with her 4 kids, all under the age of five. She left with only the clothes they were wearing at the time. She has received help and care, she is staying in a lovely place until she can get herself a council house. Refuge really is an amazing cause.

I will openly admit I haven’t donated. This is due to my current situation. I am pregnant, my ex left me when he found out. I still live with my parents but when the baby comes we will be overcrowded, I’m hoping to get a council house when the baby is born. I have also had quite a lot of health problems and have been in hospital. My wages have taken quite a hit and I can barely afford to save for the baby.

Im hoping that in time for Team Bangs on The Run part 2, my situation will have improved and I’ll be able to donate as I would have loved to.

You have been very inspirational, not just with running, with showing once you set your mind to something, you can achieve it. You gave me the confidence to believe I will be a good mam and not to give in to my ex when he tried to get me to have an abortion.

(Got quite emotional while writing this comment…)
