Tomorrow (Thursday), I am flying out to Shanghai to do some running. Nike have invited myself and a couple of other members of Run Dem Crew who I run with to go out and experience running culture in Shanghai. The more I get into this lifestyle, the more interesting I find the way it works when transported to different countries and cultures. I really enjoy exploring different attitudes and approaches to running around the world and connecting, especially with other women, who are doing incredible things to motivate their communities and bond their people together in movement.
If you’d have told me a couple of years ago that my life would involve going around the world to run, I’d have laughed rather heartily in your face. I feel incredibly lucky to have these experiences and to be able to share them with you. On Sunday, I will run a half marathon there and will be there for a week learning how the Dark Runners (a Shanghai running crew) navigate their streets (and hopefully taking in some fashion, food and other points of interest).
I’m not sure what my access to the internet will be like during the next week (due to the Great Firewall of China), but trust that as soon as I have a chance to share some words and pictures with you, I will.
Thank you as always for your support on my running journey and of course, this blog in general. It really means the world to me.
