Back in May, I got a puppy. I just realised, I haven’t updated you guys on his awesomeness since then, which is mighty rude of me. Apologies. Anyhoo, this is our Boston Terrier, Stringer Bell (yes, because I am a huge fan of The Wire and he is the most badass pup on the block). He’s coming up on six months old and he’s kinda just blowing my mind. I can’t believe I live in a house with this little dude and don’t just die of ze cute every day. More pics below, brace yourself.
You know what’s funny? I was never a dog person. Thus, I was super nervous about getting a pup. My partner and I discussed it extensively for months. I was worried about the commitment, the fact that this animal would be relying on me. The very thought of it stressed me out (you can see now why I don’t want children, yes?). But then we started visiting the pup when he was still at the breeder’s and I was overcome by his adorableness.
Yes, it is a massive commitment and it has been a big learning curve fitting him into our lives but I’m really enjoying it. He has a real little personality. I’m freaked out by how much I love coming home to him. I can’t really remember life pre-Stringer Bell. We got him into puppy training as soon as possible. Those classes are pretty hilarious. Basically Stringer Bell will do anything for a Frankfurter. Getting him to walk outside was quite a challenge at first, but he’s come on massively – now you can barely stop him on our walks. We’re being very responsible dog owners.
He’s a reassuring presence. He’s a bundle of love. It’s crazy how essentially a little ball of fur can so quickly become part of your family. Each night, before we put him to bed, I have ten minutes of cuddle time with him where he sits on my lap and falls asleep. It’s stupidly cute and a really calming part of my day.
Hopefully, eventually he and our cat, Rocky, will stop fighting like Tyson and Holyfield, but all things in good time.
For now though, he brings a lot of smiles and love to our house.
