I love a bit of knitwear I do, so was delighted to be invited down to the International Woolmark Prize last week to see who would be crowned the European victor and go forward to compete for the International prize. This prize launched the careers of Karl Lagerfeld and YSL in the 1950s, so it’s serious stuff. Winning this bad boy can lead to big things. Each of the European candidates had to present a Merino wool collection to a ridiculously influential panel (which included Dean and Dan of DSquared2, Colin McDowell, Alber Elbaz, Christiane Arp, Giles Deacon, Tim Blanks and Alexandra Shulman). Christian Winjants from Belgium nabbed took the European win with the dress above, which I was instantly drawn to when I walked in. It’s a beaut. Click below to check out some awesome stuff from the other competitors.
