Overcoming Camera Shyness

Probably since the camera was first invented, there was some woman saying ‘Wait! Let me just retouch my lippy!’ before allowing the shot to be taken. And so, through the ages, women have shied away from the lens and a new study by Photobox confirms that the laydeez are just not fans of the snapshot. So, what are the underlying reasons why?

I Heart Missoni

It’s no secret that I love Missoni. If I could afford to, I would drape myself in it every day – day wear, sleepwear, swimwear, you name it, I would have it on twentyfourseven. So, when swanky website, The Editeur, home of all things droolworthy in fashion land, sent me this scarf, I may or may not have squealed like a Valley Girl getting an engagement ring. Alter Ego

A few months back, my good friend and photographer, Brian Appiah Obeng got in touch and said he’d like to do a shoot with me. He was working on this concept, he said, about capturing the different elements of someone’s character. It couldn’t have come at a more poignant time for me – as I was really coming into my own with my running and trying to marry these two sides of myself. One day in April or May, we met up and produced this shoot. It was a great day and I feel the shots have really captured something in me, the true beginnings of something. This set of photos documents pretty much the exact moment I became comfortable as a ‘runner’.

Vienna in Pictures

Last week I was lucky enough to get the chance to go to Vienna and try out the new Olympus PEN E-P3 camera. It’s a very nifty piece of equipment and Vienna is a ridiculously beautiful city. I was there for just 24 hours, but managed to see some pretty cool sights. Bangs, Bun, Camera, Action!

A few weeks ago, I teamed up with photographer, Jamie Cowlishaw and hair and makeup artist, Rosie Binns to work on some new press shots for me to use for the various projects I do here, there and everywhere. The only criteria was big hair (obviously) and a nod to my love of old school musicals and Liza Minelli/Bob Fosse type styling. We had great fun on the shoot.
