When Youths Attack

Sunday started out like any other day. Some chores in the morning, a spot of lunch, then headed to meet a friend at her house that I hadn’t been to before. Armed with Google maps (my saviour), I set off, found her flat, then suddenly Sunday took an odd turn when three boys tried to mug me as I entered her building.

Sex, Lies & Social Media

When the video of 16 year old OG Niki surfaced on YouTube a few weeks ago of her rapping about her various sexual conquests, it seemed the whole of Twitter sat up and took notice. Her opening line about getting it from behind and having ‘six man and a camera’ (for those not catching on, she’s talking about filming an orgy she had with six men), made a few jaws drop. It got me thinking about teenagers and sex in the digital age. Online life moves so quickly and there’s no handbook for how to appropriately handle relationships in that forum, so what is the answer?

I Want My MTV

On my recent trip to New York, I tuned into MTV and all my questions about today’s yoof were answered in one fell swoop. Why is it that the very people the station are trying to target are portrayed on this channel as teenage mothers, insanely spoilt rich twats or people on a permanent vacation from life? MTV, I need you to do better.
