A few weeks ago, I wrote about my journey to publish my book.
In short, I spent over a year shopping my proposal around to mainstream publishers, only to be turned down by them all mainly due to me not having a zillion social media followers. While I understand from the publishers’ perspective, they need some sort of an assurance on that they’ll get a return on their investment, as we know, social media followings are a fickle metric. Gah! It’s frustrating to say the least.
Anyhoo, after all the work I’d put in to my proposal, I was encouraged to self-publish. And after exchanging a few emails with Unbound, it was decided that I would publish with them.
Unbound is like Kickstarter for books – I have to crowdfund the production cost of my book.
My crowdfunding page went live last week and in the first 7 days, I’ve raised 62% of my target.
Considering my day job involves me motivating and encouraging people all day, seeing pledges roll in and receiving enthusiastic emails about how much people can’t wait to read this book, it’s been incredible to feel so supported and willed on to win.
I’m so excited about this book and this positive step towards making it a reality.
Please do check out my crowdfunding page and make a pledge.
I feel like I’ve waited my whole life to write this book. Everything I’ve ever done has led to this moment and I’m so SO ready to deliver. It’s with your help that this dream can come true (and admittedly, it’d be kinda sweet to show these mainstream publishers that despite me not having 100K followers, there is, in fact, a market for this book!)
Go make a pledge! GO GO GO!
